Jacksonville Receiver With Options

Jacksonville (FL), Terry Parker HS wide receiver A.J. Jenkins has plenty of offers from some of the biggest names in college football. With offers from the big three Florida, FSU and Miami plus Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Illinois and Maryland, the 6'2, 172 lb Jenkins with 4.37 speed and 38 inch vertical jump has plenty of options.

Jenkins is staying extremely busy with track season running the 100, 200 and the 4x100. With a 10.7 (100m) and 21.9 (200m), the Scout.com Jacksonville Combine MVP says the name of the game is speed.

"The strength of my game is definitely my speed; if I see green grass I am gone," said Jenkins.

Jenkins grew up following the Miami Hurricanes and patterns his game after Michael Irvin. Still, the only junior day he attended this year was to the University of Florida.

"I love the atmosphere in Gainesville. It was my third trip and they have a bunch of fans that love football," Jenkins said of his trip and his affinity for the Gator offense. "I love the spread offense that Urban Meyer runs. I think my style of play is suited for the spread offense. They have a great campus and great coaches."

Jenkins is also keeping a close watch on some other teams as well.

Florida State: "I've watched them a few times, they like the bigger wide receivers."

Georgia Tech: "I speak to their wide receiver coach and he tells me how they would use me and informs me on their offense."

With all the schools in the mix, the answer to one question is the most important factor Jenkins will use to determine where he will spend the next four years of his life.

"Could I love being a student here if I wasn't playing football?"

AJ Jenkins racked up 35 catches with 500 yards and eight touchdowns last year while missing the first two games of the season with a broken collar bone. He has great body control and route-running skills that make him one of the premier wide receivers in North Florida. Jenkins carries a 3.1 GPA and is scheduled to take the SAT in August.
