Florida Wide Receiver Pulls Trigger

Daytona Beach (FL), Mainland High School star Antonio Bell has ended speculation and pledged his verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee. The 6'1, 178 lb wide receiver with 4.45 speed called tight end coach Matt Luke at 6:00pm eastern time to share the good news.

"I love the Tennessee offense and how they spread the ball around. I've been talking to tight end Coach Matt Luke through out the recruiting process and he's a real down to earth guy." With the departure of Robert Meachem, Jayson Swain and Brett Smith the staff is looking for playmakers at the wide receiver position. The list of early favorites include sophomore Quintin Hancock, junior college transfer Kenny O'Neal and prep school stand out Brent Vinson. Bell wants the Tennessee Nation to get ready and expects at least one South Eastern Conference player of the year award before he leaves Knoxville. Bell is coming off a very impressive junior season where he had 42 catches for 878 yards and four touchdowns. He carries a 3.0 GPA and teammates compare him to Arizona Cardinal wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

Antonio Bell becomes the seventh verbal commitment for head Coach Phillip Fulmer and the fifth out of state prospect to declare for the Tennessee Nation. He joins 6'3, 220 lb fullback Ben Bartholomew from Nashville (TN), Montgomery Bell, Academy High School; 6'2, 275 lb offensive guard Carson Anderson from Florence (AL) High School; 5'10, 200lb running back Tauren Poole from Toccoa (GA), Stephens County High School; 6'3, 240 lb middle linebacker Austin Johnson from Hickory (NC) High School; 5'11, 184 lb safety T.J. Floyd from Greenville (SC), J L Mann High School and 6'6, 230 lb tight end Aaron Douglass from Maryville (TN), High School.
