West coast wide receiver eyes Gators

At 6'4, 220 pounds, there is not much Gerell Robinson cannot accomplish on the football field. The Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton High School star took time to talk about the University of Florida.

"Coach Mullen was here yesterday. The staff wants me to come down over the summer. Coach Mullen talked to me about playing wide receiver and taking some snaps at quarter back."

Robinson played quarterback, wide receiver and safety during his junior campaign. His ability at the wide receiver spot has garnered him offers from Florida, Arizona State, Arizona, Oregon, Nebraska, Notre Dame and UCLA. "I've spoken to Coach John Hevesy about playing wide receiver. He just talks to me about how they would like to use me in their system. Coach Hevesy thinks I can come in and do the same things that Cornelius Ingram has done."

Some think pulling a wide receiver from Arizona is a long shot. Robinson had this to say about the distance factor. "I will definitely consider Florida and distance will not be a factor for me at all. Florida is definitely in my top three. The Florida staff wants me to come down in June but it looks like I won't make it until July with a couple of my teammates." He finished his junior season with 52 tackles and eight interceptions on defense. From the quarterback position, he finished the year with over 1,400 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns. Robinson reports a 3.1 GPA and will take the SAT May 5th.
