Catching up with DE Robert Quinn

With former teammate defensive end Carlos Dunlap heading to Gainesville this summer, Robert Quinn knows he has huge shoes to fill. At 6-5, 250-pounds, he is more than capable. The North Charleston (SC) Fort Dorchester star talked about the defending National Champions, the Florida Gators.

Admittedly, Robert Quinn does not know a whole lot about the University of Florida, but that could all change very quickly.

[premium]"I have been thinking about taking a trip down to Gainesville sometime over the summer," Quinn said. "Coach Meyer and Strong stay in touch with me quite a bit. Carlos is heading to Florida, so they must be doing something right down there and I should check it out."

It is natural to think that Dunlap will play an important role in the recruitment of Robert Quinn. Quinn spoke on this very subject.

"Carlos knows how crazy it was at times last year going through the recruiting process so he really hasn't been trying to convince me to come to Florida. I will take all my visits and see what feels right before I make a decision."

Florida loaded up at the defensive end position in the 2007 class with players like Carlos Dunlap, Jerry Howard, Duke Lemmens and Justin Trattou who combined for over 63 sacks last season. Still, the Florida staff would like to land two top defensive end prospects. With Earl Okine on board as the first commitment of the 2008 class, that leaves room for one more.
