Gators Chasing Wells

One of the fastest rising prospects in the country right now is Southeast 150 member defensive end Keith Wells. Wells, from Gainesville (Ga.) is 6-5, 225-pounds with room to grow. He was not able to participate in the Southeast 150 camp at Georgia Tech over the weekend due to a hip flexor, but he did attend.

"The hip is feeling all right, I strained it at spring practice and my coach didn't want me to try and come back too fast," Keith Wells. "I have a lot of camps coming up over the next couple of weeks and I want to be back to full speed as soon as possible."

Next week Wells will attend North Carolina's camp then it is off to a one-day camp at the University of Georgia followed by Notre Dame and Florida. The Gators are in hot pursuit of Wells at this time.

"Florida is definitely recruiting me the hardest right now," he said. "Coach Meyer is in constant communication with me as well as Coach Mattison and Coach Gonzales. There is not a day that goes by that I do not receive a text message or hand written letters from the Gators. They are looking real good right now."

Wells knows more than you might think about the Florida Gators.

"That coaching staff gets those defensive linemen ready to play," Wells said. "The entire line went into the National Football League last year and a back up that is just another bonus that they have, Florida is really looking good right now. They see me coming off the edge and compare me to Jarvis Moss and that is a big comparison. They also run the same defense that we run. I plan on going to Florida over the next couple of weeks."

Wells plans to make a decision over the summer or no later than the beginning of his senior season.

"The way that things are going right now I plan to commit before the summer is out," he said "Some of the coaches might not want me going on any official visits once I do commit so we will just see how it goes, but definitely before my season starts."

Wells has a top six of Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia Tech.
