Sometime in the next ten days Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley will determine whether or not to give Pat McMahon a seventh season at the helm of the Florida Baseball program. It's far from an easy choice.
McMahon led the Gators to the highest point Florida
has ever reached when the Gators met Texas
in the finals of the College World Series. He is the first coach to lead a Gator team to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first four seasons and he is perhaps the nicest, most caring man to ever coach a team in Gainesville.
But McMahon and his program have had a tough two years. Florida finished at 28-28 each of the last two regular seasons and just dropped two out of three in the SEC Tournament. It marks the first consecutive non-winning seasons in more than 30 years.
Still, the Gators improved this season, splitting 30 SEC games after dropping 20 of 30 a year ago. The Gators matched the overall record of 2006 despite playing the nation's toughest overall schedule.
I don't make a change at this time, but what would you do if you were Jeremy Foley?
