One of the South's Best

Antoine McClain is one the most athletic offensive tackle prospects in the Southeast. McClain has very quick feet and great balance for a prospect of his size. At 6-6, 305-pounds, he moves extremely well getting off blocks and engaging at the second level of attack.

Antoine McClain, from Anniston (Ala.) is a four-star offensive tackle prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and Tennessee.

"Everything is going well right now as far as recruiting goes," McClain said. "The last place that I visited was LSU. I love it up there. Coach Les Miles and I had a great time. He just talked to me about coming in and playing early. I want to play early, and Coach Miles said that he thinks I can contribute my first year and so do I."

"Currently I have 15 offers. I am open to all the teams that are looking at me right now, but I know that LSU will make my top five."

"Down at Florida, I have been talking to Coach John Hevesy for a while," he said. "I did speak with Coach Chuck Heater, but it was a couple of weeks ago. Both the coaches were telling me that I would get the best of everything at the University of Florida. There is really no other questions you can ask about Florida they are the national champions."

"I have never been to Florida but I am trying to get down for the Friday Night Lights camp at the end of July," he added. "The only problem is we have a team camp that same weekend, and I am not sure that I will be able to make it. I am going to talk to my coach about it and see what we can work out. I am trying to ride down with Jerrell Harris."

"I am best suited to play the tackle position," said McClain. "I am very athletic and do a great job of getting off the defensive line and getting to the second level. One of the main things that we are working on is killing the defensive linemen and finishing the block by driving them into the ground."

McClain knows that all the teams he is looking at come highly recommended from an academic standpoint.

"What I don't want is to come into a situation and have to sit behind a bunch of guys at my position," he said. "I am not worried about competition but I am looking at the depth charts and also want my mom to be able to come and see me play."

Many believe that it will come down to in-state powers Auburn and Alabama, and while that might be true, McClain wanted to set the record straight.

"That's where a lot of people have me figured wrong," he said. "I grew up liking Auburn because my favorite colors are orange and blue. I did not grow up favoring one team over another. I am just a big college football fan in general. I just like football period."
