FNL: T.J. Lawrence Q&A

With a top-three of Florida, Virginia and Boise State, Lakeland (Fla.) Kathleen's T.J. Lawrence made the short trip to Friday Night Lights. At 6-2 and 190-pounds, he runs in the 4.5 range. On Sunday, he spoke with FightinGators.com.

What did it mean for you to compete against some of the top players from around the country under the lights in The Swamp?

"It felt pretty good going through the drills with Coach Billy Gonzales. It was very nice. I liked the highlight tape that they had prepared for us. It was cool being in The Swamp, a place where they have not lost a game in two years. It was a real honor to be invited to Friday Night Lights."

Did you envision yourself in the Orange and Blue while you were watching the highlight tape?

"When I was watching the highlight tape I was saying, I want to wear the Orange and Blue you know I really don't know it's a possibility."

How is your relationship with Coach Gonzales?

"Coach G sends me text messages all the time and I would call him back and we would talk for a while. He is a very cool person. Coach was glad that I could come to the camp because it is the first time that he has seen me in person. He has seen my highlight tape a number of times but he has never seen me in person. That was pretty cool."

What was the highlight of the trip?

"Seeing the National Championship Trophy, no doubt about it, that trophy."
