Hill was joined on the trip by his father, Will Hill II, but not his mother, Grace Hill. After the visit, though, Hill has the Gators near the top of his list, and now Meyer just needs to convince his mom.
"My wife was not able to come and make this trip," Hill II said. "It was a great visit. It was nice to see. I really liked the atmosphere. I know my son liked the visit, and we have Florida No. 1." At the beginning of the process, the Hill family and his coach Rich Hansen sat down and came up with exactly what they would be looking for in a school.
"When we sat down at the beginning of the process, we wanted to find out what the requirements for picking a school would be," Hansen said. "Florida not only meets, but exceeds all criteria established by Will and his family."
"He loved the visit and was sold on the school," Hansen added. "They are waiting on mom's approval."
Hill's visit to Gainesville definitely made a big impression.
"Florida has always been No. 1," Hansen said. "It's ultimately going to be Will's and his parents decision. I'm just trying to guide him through the process, but he and the family know what they want."
"The visit solidified how he's felt all along," he added. "Now we just need to proceed with his mom, and if she's ready, I believe he will be ready to pull the trigger."
Hill's father agreed.
"I like everything that my son and I saw," Hill II said. "It's now time to bring mom back down and make a decision."
Tomorrow, the Hill family and Hansen will have a conference call with Meyer.
"She has some questions for Coach Meyer that she would like him to answer," Hill II said. "We are going to have a conference call at some point tomorrow with Grace, Coach Hansen, and Coach Meyer to discuss those questions."
Should Hill choose the Gators, he will join Dee Finley as the second safety from the class of 2008 and be the highest rated prospect to commit to the Gators from the class.
