The Real Story

A lot of speculation has been made over the recent postponement of Jeremy Brown's trip to Notre Dame. We have the inside story you won't read anywhere else. Jeremy and father Terrell Brown sat down for a couple of hours to let FightinGators.com know exactly where they stand on Jeremy's top-five of Auburn, North Carolina, Georgia, Notre Dame and Florida.

Jeremy Brown made the 2007 FNF Pre-Season Team at the wide receiver position. Jemarcus Allen (Boone defensive line) and Jeremiah Schwartz (Edgewater – running back) also made the team.

The Orlando Sentinel lists Brown on Florida Football Magazine's third team All-State team. The magazine hits the stands on Monday.

Workouts: 8-10 a.m./3-5 p.m.

Orlando Boone began two-a-day practices. Brown is spending most of the time on the defensive side of the ball. The defense is looking good with just about everyone returning from last year's team.

Brown weighs between 170-175-pounds. He still has workouts with his trainer at the RDV Sportsplex.

Recently Brown spent some time with Jeff Demps when the Orlando Sentinel hosted them for dinner at the Medieval Times Dinner Show. He was one of six other players invited to take pictures with Kings, Queens, Knights and Horses. He really enjoyed the moment, and it will run in the Orlando Sentinel on August 24.

Brown has set his five official visits:

  • Sept. 1 - Kansas State at Auburn
  • Sept. 8 - South Carolina at Georgia
  • Sept. 15 - Tennessee at Florida
  • Oct. 6 - Miami at North Carolina
  • Oct. 20 - USC at Notre Dame

He talked about some of his unofficial visits:

    Auburn
"The coaching staff is the strength. We were greeted by Coach Terry Price and introduced to the coaching staff individually in their offices. The Head Coach Tommy Tuberville was not present during our visit. We toured the campus and visited the stadium. Watch film with Coach Muschamp and talked with two players afterwards. The conversation with the players was cool this time. When the coaches walked out the room, my father left also."

"We spend some good quality time with Chaplin Chette Williams. Coach Williams and my father shared conversation about their missionary travels. It is a small world. They knew some of the same people. Before we left his office, we all prayed together. A powerful experience."

"We were directed to Coach Greg Knox office (wide receivers). Talked to me a lot about life. Not so much football, but life in general. Good stuff. Of course, we talked about the possibilities of player receiver at Auburn. Punt return was also a major concern for Auburn. I left Auburn seeing plenty of opportunity to play. Time well spent."

    North Carolina
"There is something special happening in Chapel Hill. Coach Butch Davis, John Blake and the coaching staff will turn the Tar heels around in the near future. Coach Davis will invade Florida and steal some Big Names out of the Sunshine State. I absolutely loved the campus - beautiful. Coach John Blake greeted us and introduced us to the entire coaching staff. My father and I had a chance to say a few words at the meeting. We took a very detailed tour of the campus. I was stunned at the beauty of the campus. Met with the academic counselor. UNC is not a bad place at all. Academics, coaching staff and location are all in place."

"We were directed to Coach Chuch Pagano's office where we watched game film of the style of defenses he likes to play. He is the DB coach and coached the Oakland Raiders last year. Coach Pagano was very excited about me being in Chapel Hill and I felt very comfortable being there. We also met with Coach Charlie Williams (wide receivers). We ended the day talking with Coach Butch Davis. Expressed a desire to have me at UNC to be a part of something special. My sister loves UNC. She is crazy about Chapel Hill. Enjoyable visit, very relaxing. Just a good visit."

    Georgia
"The facilities are awesome. The Bulldogs are not hurting the finance department. We were greeted by Coach David Johnson and introduced to the entire coaching staff. We took the routine tour of the campus and met with the academic counselor. The stadium was unbelievable. Probably one of the best-looking stadiums I have been in. The dorms were just built about a year or two ago. The dorms were like apartments - very nice. Had the honor to talk with Coach Mark Richt - awesome coach. Very smooth and cordial but yet very confident about the Bulldogs program. Georgia offers the total package. Had a chance to watch the players practice. Those people were very cool. Some one-on-one drills and some seven-on-seven. Had a chance to talk with several of the players, and by the way, No. 8 is available."

"Spent about one hour with coach Martinez. He is passionate about the defensive scheme at Georgia. Coach told me that I would have a spot at Georgia waiting for me. The meeting with Coach Martinez was unforgettable. The trip to Athens was worth the time and effort."

    Notre Dame
"The offer from Notre Dame is both an honor and a privilege. Coach Corwin Brown has done an outstanding job recruiting me. Distance has played a big part in me not taking my trip in July, but I must consider Notre Dame because of the opportunity. After the verbal commitment for Robert Blanton from North Carolina, I was excited. I have visited four of my five top schools and have been impressed with each visit. Coach Corwin Brown will make some things happen in South Bend for the Fighting Irish, and this Class of 2008 may be the turning point. With Coach Brown on defense and Coach Weis on offense, Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!"

    Florida
"Location, location, location. Coaching staff, academics and opportunity all await me in Gainesville. I still remember the day Coach Urban Meyer pulled up a chair, looked me in my eyes, and stated that he wanted to coach me at Florida. Some things you just never forget. Coach Meyer is a player's coach. Coach Chuck Heater and Coach Charlie Strong have recruited me well. I would have the support of my family and friends for every home game. In addition, the fans get Crazy in The Swamp! The fan support is there with all the games sold out. I have heard from the fans and the players that nothing compares to being in The Swamp as a Gator."
