UF-WKU Time Change Made Official

The Florida Gators season opener against Western Kentucky officially has a new start time. There has been some speculation over the last 48 hours, but the University Athletic Association is confirming that Lincoln Financial has picked up the game and is therefore moving the start time from 6 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lincoln Financial is the television partner of the Southeastern Conference and each school must play on the network at least two times each season.

"The Southeastern Conference asked us to move our season opener to 12:30 to accommodate our television partner, Lincoln Financial Sports," said Athletics Director Jeremy Foley. "We were in a similar scenario last year and the league had other options. This year, they had no other alternatives other than to ask us to move our game time and we are contractually obligated to do so."

ESPN and ESPN2 have picked up the Kansas State at Auburn and Oklahoma State at Georgia games, respectively.

Lincoln Financial could choose between Florida's matchup with Western Kentucky, Troy at Arkansas or Western Carolina at Alabama.
