Will Green Join the UF Class of '08?

Florida did an incredible job of recruiting the entire defensive line last year, but none more so than the defensive ends. The Gators will look for immediate depth from defensive ends Carlos Dunlap, Justin Trattou, Jerry Howard and Duke Lemmens. So who is in the mix for the class of 2008 in addition to Chaz Sutton and Earl Okine?

The Gators have verbal commitments from defensive ends Chaz Sutton and Earl Okine but would like to add one more possibly two in the class of 2008.

William Green, from Hoover (Ala.) Spain Park High School could be the top defensive end on the board at this time. He is 6-5, 215-pounds. Many compare him to Jermaine Cunningham at the same stage of their careers. One of Green's strengths is coming off the edge and disrupting the play before it has a chance to develop. Green is a pure pass rushing specialist and once he has his sights sets it is normally lights out for the quarterback.

Many questions surround William Green and the recruiting process. Will he spurn in-state power Alabama and head coach Nick Saban for out-of-state power and defending national champion Florida? Might he decide that Tallahassee and the Florida State Seminoles is the destination for his services?

What we do know is that his visit to the University of Florida went so well that he does not want to talk about it in a public light. Within 24 hours of Green returning home from his visit to Florida, he was on the campus of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Was Green reassuring himself that Florida was the place he wanted to be, no one knows at this time, but one thing is for sure, he is looking hard at the Gators.

Right now, I give the edge to the Gators.
