Two Team race for Beal

The Gators have yet to grab a linebacker prospect from the class of 2008, but are looking to add at least a pair of backers. The Keystone State is home to one of those prospects.

Brendan Beal is one of the top linebacker prospects in the nation. The No. 2 ranked strong side linebacker and five-star prospect is from Bethlehem (Pa.) Liberty High School.

Beal, at 6-3, 236-pounds has great size and tremendous speed for a player of his size, 4.55. Labeled a great "feel" player, Beal has a habit of being in the right place at the right time.

He can play a number of different ways. Beal can run sideline to sideline and utilize his speed when the time comes or he can use brut force by running through would-be blockers and ball carriers. He has a tremendous amount of aggressiveness, size and strength and needs only to improve on his pass coverage skills to succeed at the next level.

Beal finished his junior season with 150-plus tackles and 11 sacks. He is a work out warrior in the weight room where he benches 350-pounds, squats 475 and has a 33-inch vertical jump.

Southern Cal and Florida will battle it out until the end for his services with the Gators getting the nod sooner rather than later in my opinion.
