Deboskie Changes Top-Six

Breakaway speed, cutback ability and instincts say it all when referring to the 6-0, 192-pound running back from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton High School. Deboskie, who possesses 4.45 speed, can run through or around you. Clemson has dropped out of his top six and has been replaced by Georgia Tech.

Covaughn Deboskie has been keeping a diary about his recruiting process for Now that his high school season is underway, here's his update, including a list of his top-six schools.

Hey everyone. It has been a long time since I wrote a journal due to personal issues and lack of time. Today was so hot, it's not hard to explain – 114 degrees of dry weather felt like the world was going to end. Everyone was exhausted just 30 minutes into pre-practice. With everyone complaining, including myself, I knew coach was not calling practice so I had to deal with it. What made things worse for me was that my allergy problem was starting to worsen. Luckily, I had a doctor's appointment the next day. After finally getting through practice, I ran extra so I could be ready for the upcoming game. Later, I felt like going home and going straight to sleep, and I did forget to do my homework.

In the morning, I had a doctor's appointment for my allergies, and I was given antibiotics and some nasal spray to keep me going for the next couple of weeks. After that, I had to go back to school and into my A.P. Physics class, which is getting easier to me as each class goes by. (I am currently taking 4 A.P. classes, and 1 regular class to improve my grade point average) After that, I had to go to practice and Tuesday felt like it was hotter than Monday. I hate this weather, but it is adversity that will only make you mentally stronger. During practice, I felt better due to the nasal spray and competition. I felt like I could not be stopped during practice constantly wanting all the reps because I truly wanted to prove myself. After practice, I ran extra for the upcoming game, got some ice, and headed home. I can't believe my physics teacher gave me web work that had 51 physics problems. Sean Refree want to do my homework since your going to be an engineer.

It is one of my fun days because all my classes are A.P. classes. Each class is always fun, but the real fun is when I get on that football field! During football class, I found out I was going to be interviewed next Monday. I was excited because it was another chance to be on TV. During football practice, I was happy that it was just shoulder pads because we have gone through so many days in full pads. After practice, I decided not to run so I could rest my body. Later that night, I did some physics homework and then went to bed.

It's the day for the game and it was also the day Brophy played my old team Salpointe Catholic, so after we had our pre-game practice, I jetted to the Brophy game. (The team we play next Thursday on Fox Sports. They have running back Ray Polk.) When I got there, it was 0-0 in the 1st quarter, but by the end of the game it was 33-17. Ray Polk had 20 carries for 116 yards. He only had 16 carries for 70 yards at halftime. Overall, both teams played great but there were too many penalties.

Today was game day, and I was getting out of school early because Buena is three hours away. We left at 11 a.m.. While stopping in Tucson (my hometown), I saw black clouds in the sky. A storm was coming. When we got to Sierra Vista, it was slightly raining. I knew the game was going to be canceled. We were playing against running back Jamal Womble and the Buena Colts. I kind of knew the game was going to be easy, but you can't take anyone for granted. I know I could have done better than what I did, but I ended with five carries for 82 yards and three catches for 76 yards with a 56-yard rushing touchdown. I guess I did not reach my true potential because the game was canceled at halftime due to lightning. Jamal Womble had 11 carries for 36 yards and...the score was 44-0.

On the ride home, I slept the whole time. I know I had a good game even though next week I'll have a better raid over the punishing defense that approaches us.

I have decided my schools in order are the following: California, Stanford, Arizona State, Florida, Georgia Tech and Alabama. I plan to take an unofficial visit to see California versus Tennessee.
