Jones Ready for UF Visit

Barrett Jones is one of the top offensive tackles in the Southeast. Jones, from Cordova (Tenn.) Evangelical Christian High School stands 6-5, 270-pounds. Many think that it is a foregone conclusion that Jones ends up with the Crimson Tide, and while that might be true, Jones has not shut the door on the Florida Gators.

While Barrett Jones got off to somewhat of a rocky start week one with a back injury, he is fully recovered and played the entire game in week two.

"My back is doing a lot better; I played the entire game Friday night," Jones said. "We won 35-0 and are currently ranked No. 2 in the Commercial Appeal (Memphis paper) dandy dozen which includes public and private schools."

Due to strong family ties to the Alabama program, many believe that Jones was born to play for the Crimson Tide. While that may be true, Jones says that if he knew where he wanted to play he would of already pulled the trigger.

"It is not a done deal with Alabama," he said. "I really like Alabama, and it is a strong possibility, but I am still trying to figure out the right place for me. If I knew where I wanted to go, I would commit so I could focus on my senior season and not have to think about it and take more visits."

On his upcoming trip to see the Florida Gators take on the Tennessee Volunteers, Jones had this to say about UF.

"I am attracted to Florida by the combination of strong academics and a great football program," he said. "I was very impressed with Tim Tebow, Coach Meyer and all the other coaches I met when I visited. I am excited about seeing a game in The Swamp! My parents and my brothers are coming too and my little brother is so excited. He wants to see that National Championship trophy!"

My Take:
At this point in the game it is clear that the Crimson Tide is the front runner for Jones and his services, but do not rule out the Gators, especially with the kind of atmosphere that the Jones family will witness on September 15.
