Miami Commit Taking a Second Look at USF

Davon Johnson once had USF in his top 4, that was until he committed to UM. However, after watching USF's big win on Saturday he may be taking another look. See what he has to say about the Bulls offense, where he will visit this fall and much more. Only on USFNation.com!

Bulls fans certainly remember the name Davon Johnson. He's a prospect that had South Florida ranked in his top 4 before committing to Miami in July. Just before Johnson chose Miami, he told USFNation that the Bulls were one of the two teams recruiting him the hardest…Three months later, not much has changed.

"USF is still very interested." Adding, "Coach Scott has been sending letters and now I talk to him once a week."

The 5-11, 165 pound speedster (4.45 40-time) says that he is still committed to Miami, but plans to visit USF on an official visit this fall.

"I'm going to take a trip to South Florida, LSU, South Carolina and Florida."

All of the schools he mentioned have offered, one school he's not sure if he'll visit is Miami.

"It's so close to home and I've been there before, I don't think I'll take an official there. I want to use my time to see schools I'm not familiar with."

As for Johnson's interest in the Bulls, he says they have impressed him so far this season.

"I watched the whole (Auburn) game on Saturday from my house." Johnson said he expected they would win. "I knew they would play well. They can pretty much play with any team in the nation."

However, the win did change his perception of the program.

"It did change a little. That was the first time I actually got to sit down and watch them play. I liked the spread offense and how Matt Grothe throws to all his wide receivers. That was the most that I've ever seen them play, I'm glad I had a chance to see what they're all about."

Johnson says he is concentrating on his season right now and will schedule his visits in the next few weeks. None of the visits will be scheduled until his highschool season is complete.

My Take:
Right now Davon Johnson is still a solid Miami commit, but he is getting pressure from USF, UF and Rutgers to open back up his recruitment and by the end of the season he very well could. From here on out there is no doubt the Bulls staff will stay on him. If USF can get him in for a visit anything could happen. These are teenagers and they run on emotion, if USF is still the ‘hot' team when his trip comes around there is a good chance he could switch commitments. Stay tuned!
