GAME RECAP: Back in Control

The offense looked the way it did to start the season, and the defense made enough big plays in the end, helping the Gators to a 45-37 win over No. 8 ranked Kentucky.

In front of a Commonwealth Stadium record crowd of 71,024, the Gators proved to have more firepower than the Wildcats. Here's the scoring recap.

1st Quarter

Drive Summary: For just the second time this season, the Gators found the end zone after just two plays. Murphy's 56-yard catch was his second touchdown reception of the season as well as his longest of the year. It was the Gators' second longest passing strike of the season – second to Riley Cooper's 59-yard catch against Western Kentucky.

Drive Summary: Kentucky kicked the 27-yard field goal after converting on a 4th-and-9 from the Gator 36-yard line. Woodson hit Steve Johnson down the right sideline who had beaten Joe Haden for a 24-yard pick-up on the play. On the previous play, Jermaine Cunningham scooped up a fumble, but the play was reversed by instant replay.

Drive Summary: The Gators brought back memories of last year's LSU game with a 1-yard jump pass from Tebow to Hernandez. It was the second touchdown reception for the true freshman. Florida had a big third down conversion when Tebow hit Harvin for a 13 yard gain when faced with 3rd-and-10 from the Wildcats' 13.

Drive Summary: Urban Meyer was urging for the old Bubba earlier in the week, and the old Bubba showed up on this scoring drive. Caldwell picked up 20 yards on an inside hand-off, setting up the Gators in the red zone. Caldwell then pulled in the 8-yard reception for the score. The Gators almost had to settle for a field goal, though, when Hernandez was called for the game's first penalty.
