Florida Guard Undergoes Surgery

University of Florida guard James White underwent successful surgery Thursday afternoon at the Florida Surgical Center, head basketball coach Billy Donovan announced.

The surgery, performed by team physician Dr. Pete Indelicato, removed a cyst in White's left knee. White will begin rehabilitation immediately and start practicing in three to four weeks.

White, a 6-6 sophomore, complained of pain in his left knee following practice on Tuesday. He underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test on Wednesday evening at which time a decision was made to proceed with surgery.

"I'm very sad for James that this has occurred," said Donovan. "If there is one positive, however, it is that it happened during the first week of practice and at a point where he certainly has time to recover and help contribute to this team."

White averaged 6.1 points per games during his freshman season, seeing action in 30 games.
