Tuesday Night Bubble Watch

Florida has another chance to improve their NCAA chances Wednesday night against Tennessee, but there are still plenty of opportunities for good things to happen for the Gators tournament status prior to taking the court again. Here are your key games to watch as a Gator fan for tonight.

Purdue at Ohio State, 7 - OSU's unraveling has been very good news for Florida. They've lost five of their last seven with the only wins coming against woeful Michigan and Northwestern. Now Ohio State faces a Boilermaker squad that beat them by seven earlier this season and is tied for the Big Ten lead. It's not hard for Gator fans to root for the Buckeyes to lose, and they need to keep doing so.

Wake Forest at Virginia Tech, 7 - The Hokies are right on the fringe on the NCAA tournament field. They sit at 55 in the RPI, five spots ahead of Florida, heading into tonight's action. They've won three straight and have their final home game against Wake. The Demon Deacons have done some good things this season and might become a late bubble possibility should they win both their games this week. A win by Wake Forest here prevents the Hokies from securing a winning ACC regular season record. With a 3-6 road mark and a game at Clemson to close out the year, VT probably won't get there without a win tonight. A Wake win is a win for UF as well.

Miami, OH at Kent State, 7 - Kent State's RPI dropped to 34 with their surprising loss to Bowling Green Saturday. Before that, they had looked like the one likely at-large team out of the MAC. That still might be a possibility should they lose in the conference tournament, which is why Florida needs to get a little more help from Miami, OH. The RedHawks already did UF a favor by dismantling Ohio Saturday and knocking their RPI into the sixties. A one bid MAC is good news for all bubble teams, so Miami is the call here.

UNLV at New Mexico, 9 - New Mexico is at 53 in the RPI. They've only got one win against the top 50 of the RPI, and this is their last chance to pick up a victory against one before the Mountain West conference tournament. The Lobos were on a six game winning streak before a one point overtime loss to BYU in their last game, so they're currently playing at a high level. Lon Kruger's Rebels are going to be in the NCAAs, and he can help out one of his former schools with a win here.

Colorado at Kansas State, 9 - The Wildcats are in a tailspin, losing five of six. Their final home game of the year comes against the Big 12's worst team in Colorado. A loss here might finish Kansas State off as an at-large team without a big run in the Big 12 tournament, while a win guarantees them an above .500 conference record. The odds aren't very good that the Buffaloes will pull off the victory, but Florida will benefit if they can.
