Gator Gymnasts Advance

The third ranked Gator gymnastics team bettered No. 2 Alabama to win the early session in Thursday's NCAA Championships in Athens, Georgia. The Gators edged Alabama by .250 to advance to the finals tomorrow night, also known as the "Super Six".

The top three from each session advance to the finals. Alabama will join the Gators in tomorrow's finals along with LSU which finished third in the afternoon session. The other three entries in the Super Six will be decided tonight when Georgia leads another six teams onto the floor at Stegemann Coliseum.

Florida had four gymnasts compete in the All-Around and all four had similar scores. Melanie Sinclair (39.525) led the way. She as followed by Amanda Castillo and Ashley Reed (39.425) and Corey Hartung (39.400).

Florida's overall score was a solid 196.900, but that number probably won't be good enough to beat Georgia tomorrow night.
