Gators Looking to NJ Again

The Florida Gators have a group of young and talented defensive tackles, but there are a couple of D-tackles from the class of 2009 that are getting attention from UF. Hoboken (N.J.) High School's Isaac Holmes is one those players.

Isaac Holmes is a 6-3, 290-pound defensive tackle who is a three-star prospect according to Holmes is a freak athlete with a 29-inch vertical and a sub-5.0 40-yard dash despite his size.

As a junior, Holmes recorded 83 tackles, 11 sacks and forced four fumbles. He's very quick on his feet and has a quick first step.

Holmes plans to take the recruiting process to National Signing Day, saying that he's in no rush to make a decision. He plans on camping over the summer with a trip to Gainesville in the works. He has expressed interest in the Gators, citing Florida's tendency to play in big bowl games, and he is well aware of the Gators luring fellow Garden State standout Will Hill to the South.

"They came at me really strong," Holmes told the Rutgers site last week. "I have spoken to the coaching staff and they are interested in me. They have been straight-forward about recruiting me and they are not looking to sit me as a true freshman."

Holmes currently favors Maryland and Rutgers, but the Gators are on the short list along with Miami who Holmes grew up watching. His cousin, Duval Kamara, is a wide receiver at Notre Dame.

Holmes reports a 3.2 GPA and is expecting his first SAT results back this summer.
