Boyd Considering Florida Visit

At 6-3, 185-pounds there isn't much this Ashbrook High School standout wide receiver can't accomplish on the football field. With 4.4-speed and a vertical jump that most basketball players would love to claim (40 inches), Boyd is arguably the state's top prospect at his position.

Coming off a junior campaign in which Boyd ended the season with 47 catches, 1,151 yards and 11 touchdowns he is poised to have an even bigger year in 2008. It seemed that he was all set on the Clemson Tigers but a funny thing happened along the way as he took a trip to the University of Florida for Friday Night Lights. Without question, Florida was his leader after that visit but shortly thereafter his close friend Curtis Porter announced for Miami raising doubts about the possibility that Boyd would follow through on a decision for the Gators.

Boyd has made it clear on several occasions that Miami is not an option for him at this time. What would happen if Miami decided to offer Boyd, would he listen? I believe he would with his good friend headed in that direction.

As of right now I believe we are at a standstill with Boyd, meaning that the Clemson Tigers and Florida Gators are the two teams most likely to land the star wide receiver. Boyd and Porter told me last week that they would make the trip to Gainesville for the Florida/Miami showdown but it now appears that trip is up in the air. It is very important to get Boyd back to Gainesville for the game day atmosphere in my opinion. He was blown away at Friday Night Lights, and I can't imagine what he would say if he were to actually come to a game, especially the Florida/Miami game under the lights of The Swamp.
