Inside Access - Jaamal Berry

Jaamal Berry is one of the most widely talked about recruits in the nation. He has been the center of an intense recruiting battle between two college football powers - Florida and Ohio State.

Things got off to a good start for the 5-11, 193-pound all-purpose back with 4.31 speed Wednesday night in a 21-6 victory over Miami Springs High School. Berry was forced to sit the first quarter due to some off the field issues but once he saw the field, it didn't take long before he made an immediate impact for his Miami Palmetto High School teammates.

"I had eiht carries for 155 yards and two touchdowns. I didn't play the first quarter because I was forced to sit and I left the game with about nine minutes to play. We could have scored more but had some stupid penalties in the red zone."

Many people have said that Berry is a lock to Ohio State. It seems every time I turn around that someone is telling me that the Gators have no shot at him. I have said this before and will continue to say it, the longer it goes the better for the Gators.

I do believe that the state of today's economy will have some sort of impact on this decision, how could it not? I know that Berry loves Ohio State but as much as he does he has the same feelings for the Gators. I do believe that he is torn right now on the two schools and this thing could go either way.

As it stands, Berry should be able to make it in next weekend to see the Gators play host to the Hurricanes and I want to see what his thought process is like coming out of The Swamp next weekend. There will be more than a few familiar faces in the crowd. The kind that could play a role in the decision making process for the Berry family.
