James Opens with a Bang

Whenever Brandon James gets his hands on the ball during special teams, you always know that there's a chance something special could happen. James didn't disappoint in Florida's season opener, returning a punt 74 yards for a touchdown for the fourth time in his career.

After Saturday's games, James answered some questions about his uncanny ability to break free during returns.

When do you know that you've broken it?

"Pretty much I feel good after I've broken a couple tackles. They set up a couple of nice blocks and open up down field and I know I've got a pretty good chance."

Do you know once you've turned the corner?

"Yes, once you've turned the corner you know you've got a good chance."

Coach Urban Meyer talked about how this is the best shape you've been in. Can you just talk about that?

"This year we went at it a lot harder. We had more focus and the team came together. I came in in better shape. I had one of my best offseasons. I'm just trying to make some plays for our team."

Were there any comments from Hawaii about all the big plays?

"No they showed good sportsmanship throughout. They played hard, and you like it like that. Sometimes in intense games, you like the jawing back and forth."
