Telfort Impressed with Saturday Night

There were quite a few south Florida prospects in the stands Saturday night to watch Florida dismantle Miami on national television. One prospect from Miami that was in attendance and was impressed is Frankie Telfort (5-11, 205) of Miami (FL) Gulliver Prep who Florida is recruiting at safety.

The Scout.com four-star prospect had a good time in among the rowdiness that comes with a rivalry game in The Swamp and he told FightinGators.com all about it.

"The fans are crazy," Telfort said laughing as he thought about all the hyped up fans in Gainesville for the big game. "They are insane, they are die hard and genuine to their team. It is just great to see a community rally around one team and love them so much...that was a big plus."

Telfort traveled to to the Tampa on Friday where his team had a big win against a good Zephyrhills team. After that game, he drove straight to Gainesville where he found a nice bed and crashed for the night before making it over to the rowdiness that comes with game day at Florida.

"I got there at 1 am, then slept," he said. "I woke up and got something to eat and got to campus about 5 p.m. I saw the weight room and the new facility with the new projectors and stuff."

Telfort is a fan of the Florida defense and saw the starting unit put up it's second big game keeping the Hurricanes out of the end zone.

"I think it was a good game and the Gators took over in the fourth quarter," he said. "I think (the defense) did well, they didn't allow any touchdowns and they did very well against the run."

He got to talk to the Gators' Dade County recruiting area coach Vance Bedford as well as head coach Urban Meyer before the game.

"I spoke to coach Bedford and Urban Meyer before the game very briefly, then we went back to watch it," he said. "Afterwards, I was tired, we just went home and I watched the highlights from the other games and went to sleep."

The Gators have been one of the leaders for Telfort for quite a while and the game on Saturday certainly didn't hurt that. He talks about his other favorites and what his immediate plans are for his next visit somewhere.

"Florida is still one of the top teams I am looking at," he said. " The others are USC, Stanford, Notre Dame. Ohio State, and Tennessee. I am really trying to get to the Ohio State-USC game (official visit) next week but if I can't get to that I really want to visit USC next so I can compare the two teams, the atmosphere, and everything."

Telfort and his Gulliver prep team is off to a good start. He plays both ways, but earns his keep more on defense.

"We destroyed that team Zephyrhills and I did do well," Telfort said. "I had a sack and a couple of big hits. I only got one carry because I am more of a blocking running back....we have a set where we put our running back at quarterback and they bring me in to block on stretch plays and stuff."

He's versatile and one of the most ball hawking defenders in the country. Frankie Telfort is a big time prospect from a hot bed of talent and will be followed closely throughout the process.
