Robinson Enjoys Swamp Atmosphere

The Florida Gators had an electric atmosphere in The Swamp Saturday night when they hosted the Miami Hurricanes in prime time. In the end zone were over a hundred prospective athletes there to watch the in-state rivalry. Among the very best for 2010 in attendance was Eagle Lake (FL) Lake Region safety Marvin Robinson (6-1, 186) who really enjoyed the atmosphere of The Swamp.

There were more than 90,000 screaming fans in attendance. That and a night time crowd that were in a frenzy during the game was enough to make Robinson want to go out on the field and play himself.

"It was nice, a great game," Robinson said Sunday night. "The Gators played well. The defense played well and offense played pretty well. It was loud and I felt like I wanted to get out there and suit up. The crowd was great, I had a sideline view before the game while players were warming up and stretching, it was really great."

Robinson was one of the athletes that the Florida coaching staff paid a lot of attention to Saturday night despite the importance of the game and the extremely late conclusion time that comes with a prime time start. Robinson got a written scholarship offer from the Gators on Thursday of last week.

"I talked to coach Strong after the game and he asked how I liked the game," Robinson said. "He asked if I got my offer and everything. He was basically telling me about the game and how they break things down before the game. He showed all the recruits how they talk to the players about the game after the game."

The staff at Florida is already cluing in Robinson on just where he would fit in the defense if he were to become a Gator. It is something he is very familiar with already.

"They told me I would be one of the safety position where Major Wright is playing right now if I came there," Robinson said. "It is a great opportunity. I play sort of like that with the defense we run here in high school."

Robinson has a keen interest in the Gators that was spawned from a visit he took on July 18 to Gainesville. On that date, Florida held their famous "Friday Night Lights" camp and Robinson was one of the many stars on hand to make a splash. He really liked the atmosphere and the coaching he received that night.

"When I went to 'Friday Night Lights' I liked how everything went...all the way from the atmosphere to the way the coaches were coaching me," he said. "They taught me how they ran their plays and everything."

He still considers his recruiting wide open right now, but he does have a hand full of teams that he is looking at a little harder than the others already.

"Right now I am just looking at everyone, going through the process," he said. "Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, and USC stand out at the moment."

Robinson talked about the others.

Michigan: "I went to camp there before my sophomore year and they offered me. I know it is a different staff, but I know it is a great staff so I am interested."

Ohio State: "I was also up there for their spring game. I was talking to Coach Taver (Johnson), he's a great coach. Coach (Jim) Tressel is a great coach. I like the atmosphere there with the fans. I think it is a great school academically, reputation wise."

Tennessee: "Coach (Stan) Drayton came down to my school to a practice. He was talking to my parents and everything. My parents really liked him. He was talking about the school and the education there."

USC: "I went up there this summer for the 'Rising Stars' camp. All the coaches there are down to earth. I talked to Pete Carroll, Coach (Todd McNair), and Coach (Pat) Ruel, they were here in the spring and talking to my coach. I was there and learning new things with the defensive back coaches and all of that garnered my interest."

Marvin Robinson currently has nine offers from Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, Boston College, FIU, Georgia, and Nebraska. There will be more to enter the fold for this talented secondary player. Stay tuned to Scout.com for more on Marvin Robinson.
