Koehne will Visit UF Officially

A powerful guy with a nasty streak is what most offensive line coaches are looking for, and there may be no meaner streak in high school football than that from Indianapolis (IN) Cathedral lineman Kyle Koehne (6-6, 300). The Florida Gators recently have made him a priority and the big lineman will take an official visit with the Gators for their big time matchup with LSU in three weeks.

The Gators should host a myriad of big time prospects for the SEC contest and Koehne says he plans on being one of them.

"I plan on an official visit for LSU," Koehne said Sunday of the big contest between the Gators and Bengal Tigers. "I talked to them last week trying to figure out a good time. I was going to come down for the Ole Miss game but we ended up figuring out that the LSU visit will be the best."

Koehne hasn't made a decision but has narrowed the field quite a bit. He really likes four schools at the moment.

"My top four is Florida, Boston College, Louisville, and North Carolina State," he said. "NC State and Boston College have offered. Florida is saying they will talk about it when I get down there."

Koehne talked about each of his favorites.

Boston College: "I went to Boston College (for a visit). It was fun. That is a great school and has a great football tradition and I like the coaches a lot. I like their players too. It is a beautiful campus as well."

Louisville: "I like that Louisville coaches a lot and it is a good school."

NC State: "I like all the coaches a lot. They all coached two formal Cathedral players that are in the pros. I like them a lot, but haven't visited there yet. I might visit."

The Gators are a school that he visited in the spring and Koehne came away very impressed. Offensive Line Coach Steve Addazio has been equally impressed with Koehne and has stayed on him. Even though an offer hasn't come, Koehne knows the Gators are high on what he has to offer.

"I like pretty much everything," Koehne said about Florida. "They have a great tradition, coaches, and strong academics. I watched them against Miami and saw the highlights of Tennessee, but had to listen to them on the radio yesterday.

"I just would like to be a part of that offense in general. I think it would be a great experience and blocking for Tebow would be cool.

"I talk to Coach Addazio probably once a week and I like him a lot. I have talked to Coach Meyer a lot lately and I like them both. They just tell me to stick with Florida."

Koehne is quick and athletic for his size and that lends itself to playing multiple positions along the line.

With his trip in about three weeks, it appears it is close to closing time for the recruitment of Koehne. He says he just wants a place that feels like home and he hopes to have that decision done with relatively soon.

"My decision will be about where I am the most comfortable in the end," he said. "Hopefully I will decide here in the next month."
