Four-Star QB Checking out his Options

Deerfield Beach four-star quarterback Denard Robinson (6-0, 175) is a hot target for the Florida Gators in the class of 2009. The Gators love his versatility at the quarterback position and believe he can be a do everything kind of quarterback in the orange and blue.

His undefeated Deerfield team has a week off and Robinson is planning on a trip to Georgia, but the Gators are still high on his mind.

Robinson has been one of those managing quarterbacks that keeps his team in rhythm and uses his athletic tools to help win games. His tools are exceptional and he can absolutely burn with his feet or his arm.

This weekend the fleet-footed golden armed Robinson will get to rest his athletic ability, but he is planning on making a trip to check out the college game day atmosphere.

"I am going to the Georgia-Alabama game," Robinson said Thursday night. "Georgia is telling me they want me at receiver or cornerback. They see that I have a lot of athletic ability. I am just going to check out the game and see how the atmosphere. I haven't been to any college games this year. I went to a couple last year."

There are a number of schools that are after Robinson, but only a select few that are willing to give him the shot at quarterback that he seems to want. Florida is one of them and Robinson lists the others.

"West Virginia, UCF, USF, and Auburn, but I haven't been in touch with them in a while," he said.

Robinson was able to make it to Florida's Friday Night Lights camp and played very well. The coaches were all over him then as they are now. They really like what Robinson can bring to the Urban Meyer spread offense.

"They are a good school I am looking at them," he said. "I love their offense and they are explosive. I am coming up for the LSU game in a couple of weeks. The coaches said that I have a strong arm and everything. They think I would be a great asset to their team."

The Gators seem to be one of the main programs that is really working on the relationship side of Robinson's recruitment. That is something that is going to play heavily when it is time to make his college choice.

"I will choose a school based on how the coaches act towards me,l" he said. "Coach (Billy) Gonzales is recruiting me and is a real good coach. He acts like he is going to take care of me like I am part of his family.

"I talk to Coach Meyer a lot, whenever I ask to speak to him I can get in touch with him. I probably talk to him about once a week. He talks about my grades and stuff and asks me if I am ready to come be a Gator."

He may or may not make the two trips in the next few weeks, but even if he does, don't look for Denard Robinson to make a decision any time soon. He doesn't have a plan for that just yet.

"I really don't know when I will make a decision," he said.

So, that means we will have to keep on him. Expect that to happen and we look forward to following Denard Robinson as he wades through his recruitment.
