Fightin' Gators Top 13 - Week Five

Well if this Saturday is any indication, the 2008 college football season is going to be as strange as last year. And last year was flat out bizarre. We saw Southern Cal, Florida, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, East Carolina and Clemson all lose to unranked opponents. The No. 3 team fell behind 31-0 at home while Auburn won despite just one offensive score.

With that, here is the weekly assessment of the nation's best from the lawless firm of Vettel, Chmielenski, Redman and Cline.

1. Oklahoma
2. LSU --------
BR: Jaret Lee continues to come on as a passer. LSU is loaded at receiver so if Lee continues to improve they are a wildly dangerous team.
3. Alabama
4. Texas
5. Missouri
6. USC
7. Penn State ----
HC: The Lions may have the clearest road to the BCS Title Game of anyone. Their win over Oregon State looks great now.
8. BYU --------- CC: Could the BYU/Utah winner be a BCS spoiler? To early to tell, but the Mountain West is looking better than either the ACC or the Big East.
9. Florida
10. Georgia
11. Texas Tech
12. South Florida ---
LV: Is USF the best team in the state of Florida (College or pro)? I don't think so, but you have to admit it's worth considering.
13. Ohio State/Auburn Tie ---- LV: Don't look at me, I voted for Northwestern!

Dubious Achievement Award ----- CC: Dan Mullen because everyone on the planet knew Florida was going to run Tebow up the middle. What ever happened to the rocker step? If they had done it, Florida would be No. 2 right now.
