UF Accepts Outback Bid

The University of Florida has accepted a bid to face Michigan in the Outback Bowl on January 1, 2003 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The Gator Ticket Office is now accepting orders for this game.

The Gator Ticket Office is now accepting orders for this game. Season ticket holders and general public may purchase tickets by calling (877) 428-6742 (toll free) or from the Gainesville area (352) 384-3261 and place their order through G.A.T.O.R.S. (Gator Athletic Ticket Order Request System). The Gator Ticket Office will be also accepting orders during normal business hours, Monday thru Friday. There are no limits to the number of $50 tickets that can be ordered. Priority deadline for placing orders will be Monday, December 9.

UF Students will have the opportunity to purchase Outback Bowl tickets beginning Monday, December 9, at 6 p.m. by calling G.A.T.O.R.S. (877) 428-6747 (toll free) and from the Gainesville area at (352) 384-3262. Students may purchase one ticket at $25 and up to three guest tickets at $50 each. UF students do not have to be a football season ticket holder to order bowl tickets. Students can pick up pre-purchased tickets at the Student Ticket Office beginning Thursday, December 12 thru Monday, December 16.

This will be the first appearance by the Gators in the Outback Bowl while Michigan will play in the game for the fourth time. The two teams will be meeting on the gridiron for the first time in history.

Florida will be making its 10th January Bowl game appearance since 1993, tied with Florida State for the most in the nation. Florida is 14-15 all-time in Bowl appearances and has won six of its last seven Bowl games played in Florida.

In Tampa, Florida is 21-12-3 all-time, but last played in 1989 defeating SEC rival Mississippi State 21-0.

The Outback Bowl is being televised by ESPN and will kickoff at 11 a.m. ET on New Year's Day. This will be the sixth appearance this season by the Gators on ESPN, which is a school record.
