Gators Talking to Georgia Pass Rusher

One of the more physically gifted pass rushers in the Peach State is Euclid Cummings (6-3, 235) of Roswell (GA) Centennial. Cummings with his good size and a reported 4.55 second time in the 40, has already garnered major college offers and has the interest of the Florida Gators.

Named after the "Father of Geometry" the great Euclid of Alexandria, Euclid Cummings knows the answer to the age old question, "what is the shortest distance between two points." On Friday nights he set his sites on the quarterback and runs a straight line to the backfield leaving opposing quarterbacks reeling from the hits. His straight line pass rush has already netted four sacks on the young season and Cummings is looking for more.

The Florida Gators have been on Cummings recently and he has returned the favor with interest in the Gators. Right now, it appears that Florida is in a race with three other programs with his recruitment.

"Coach (Kenny) Carter has been recruiting me to Florida," Cummings said Monday night. "I saw Florida play the Ole Miss and Tennessee game. I think the Florida defense is pretty intense and a pretty good defense. I plan on coming down there for a visit, but I just don't know when yet. I would like to get down there for a football game.

"I am also interested in Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. It's really a four team race right now. I have offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Florida hasn't talked about an offer yet."

Cummings talked about the other three programs he is looking at.

Tennessee: "I went up there for a camp and I really like their facilities."

South Carolina: "I went up there for a camp also, and I also really liked their facilities."

North Carolina: "They are doing great this year and I like the defensive line coach (John Blake), he is pretty cool. I have been there, just to visit."

It is still kind of early in the process and other programs may appear on the horizon, but with these four schools squarely in the mix, Cummings knows what he is looking for in a program.

"It's going to be about a team that wins football games, academics, and a strong alumni base," he said.

Scout.com will be sure to keep in touch with Euclid Cummings as his recruitment progresses.
