Alajajian Visits Swamp, Meyer Returns Favor

Last week the Florida Gators hosted the LSU Tigers for a showdown between two top teams. The Gators had a host of big time prospects in the stands as they went on to destroy LSU 51-21. In the stands that night was Gator commitment Nick Alajajian,'s No. 1 rated offensive guard prospect. A week later Meyer visited Naples to watch Alajajian and his team defeat rival Baron Collier.

Meyer was on the sidelines Friday night watching Naples and Alajajian. The NCAA rules stipulate that Meyer cannot talk to Alajajian while watching, but the two had plenty to talk about the week before when the big time offensive lineman visited The Swamp.

"I was at the Florida-LSU game," Alajajian said earlier this week. "It was real fun. I love going to The Swamp. It was awesome to be there and to know that I am going to be there pretty soon is just really, really cool."

Alajajian has been at most of the games in Gainesville this year and the two rowdiest crowds were the two night games. He said the LSU game took it to a whole new level in The Swamp.

"I went to the Miami game and LSU game," he said. "The Miami game was crazy, but the LSU game was even more electrifying than the Miami game. The crowd was into it the whole game and it was a great game to go to."

Alajajian has been a solid commitment for a couple of months now and has paid particular attention to the way the offensive line at Florida has played. He got an eye full last Saturday night.

"The offensive line played great, they opened up big holes for Chris Rainey and Jeffrey Demps and gave them time to throw the ball around," he said. "I thought they played great. It just shows you just how good Coach Addazio is."

There was all kinds of time for Alajajian to talk to Florida head coach Urban Meyer and offensive line coach Steve Addazio last week. He made sure he used that time wisely.

"I talked to Coach Addazio and Coach Meyer before the game, then afterwards in the locker room," he said. "I talked to Coach Addazio on the field during drills and then to Meyer after the game. They just told me to stay strong and get my school work done so I can get up their early.

With a championship season looming again in Naples, that is priority one for now. After that, there is one thing he wants to do.

"Just getting the opportunity to play for the Gators is the thing I am looking forward to the most," he said.
