Coming off an impressive sophomore season in which he ended the year with 78 carries for 938 yards and 19 touchdowns, McDowell has picked up right where he left off. Deerfield Beach High School is currently 5-1 on the season and "Cat" has 51 carries for 647 yards and eight touchdowns. He has added four catches for 147 yards and four more scores on the season. That is just less than 14.5 yards per touch on the year.
"The only game that I went to this year was to watch Miami when they hosted Florida State," McDowell said. "It was an exciting game, very hard hitting with good plays. I think that I am going to attend Oregon when they play Arizona State later in the season."
McDowell talked about what is most important to him with regards to the decision making process.
"To me the most important factor will be how good the program is and how good the academics are. I also want to make sure that I fit in well at the school with the players and coaches."
"West Virginia, Florida, Georgia Tech, Colorado, Wisconsin and Alabama are recruiting me the most right now," McDowell said.
It has been rumored that McDowell is a big Miami Hurricane fan and while he does admit that he does like Miami it seems apparent that he knows that type of offense is not conducive with what he brings to the table. He was at Friday Night Lights as you all know with good friend Denard Robinson and the two are much closer than many people believe. They were supposed to come up on two different occasions this year but it wasn't able to happen. Look for Cat to visit later in the year with Denard Robinson. Florida is in on a number of backs for the class of 2010 with players like Roy Finch, Eduardo Clements, Corvin Lamb and Mac Brown and remains to be seen which backs are at the top of the list but make no mistake about it they can all play at the next level.
