Murphy Big Part of Gator Win

Florida's senior wide receiver Louis Murphy had only one reception on Saturday, but it was a big one. Murphy raced down the sideline to catch a perfectly thrown ball from Tim Tebow for a 44-yard touchdown. The score put the Gators up 28-3 and the rout was on.

Urban Meyer has talked about the leadership of the team in recent weeks really stepping up, and Louis Murphy has played a big role in that.

"It's the best answer to come out and win like this. Now we got to head to Vanderbilt," Murphy said after Saturday's game. "We were ready. We were more ready than ever. We came out on all cylinders. We played a great game."

Murphy contributes in more ways than just on the field. Meyer talked on Sunday about how Tebow and Murphy received Joe Haden on the sidelines after his interception. He brings energy to the Gator sidelines, and with that kind of energy, Florida didn't really need to relive last year's loss to Georgia to get motivated for this one.

"Everyone knew what happened last year," Murphy said. "It wasn't anything that motivated us. It was in the back of our minds, so we just came out and played hard. Everyone knows what happened so there's no need to talk about it."

Still, the Gators didn't expect to crush the Dawgs by 39 points. Until Georgia's fourth quarter touchdown after the game was well in hand, the Gators were on their way to their biggest margin of victory in series history.

"I didn't see it, but i knew we had the potential to do what we did," Murphy said. "It just happened to go that way. All the hard work, it just paid off today."

With Georgia out of the way, Florida is just one win away from a trip to Atlanta. It would be the second chance to play for an SEC Championship in Murphy's career, and shortly after the win on Saturday, he was already focused on it.

It's a great feeling to be this close," he said. "We just have to go and take care of business in Tennessee. We're going to continue to focus. Ole Miss was a great game to happen to us. We're refocused and not overlooking anyone and playing as good as we have."

And Murphy can see the Gators going beyond just Atlanta.

"I think we're playing just as good as anyone," he said. "We can line up against anyone. We're playing and we're passionate about this game."
