Cummings, a 6-4, 230-pound defensive end from Roswell (GA) Centennial High School and teammate offensive tackle David Yankey (class of 2010) decided to take a visit to Gainesville this past weekend as the Florida Gators hosted South Carolina. Recently, Cummings had narrowed his list to four schools, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina. It now appears that Cummings has added a fifth to the list, the Florida Gators.
"I arrived to Gainesville around 12:20 p.m. with David Yakey and his family, Coach Measor, Coach Hill and Coach Burch and as soon as we got there we had a chance to sit down and eat for the pre-game meal," Cummings said. "The game atmosphere is a little bit different than what I am used to seeing. There was not a lot of tailgating but the game was extremely loud and I could not hear myself talk. Leading up to kickoff was wild with lots of chants and stuff. Once the game started the defense was fast and intense."
Anytime a potential recruit sits in The Swamp and pictures himself running out of the tunnel with the rest of the team one would believe that is a good sign and I am no different. That's exactly what Cummings thought about right before the game when the stands were rocking. He spoke with both Coach Kenny Carter and Coach Urban Meyer on his visit and both would like him to come back to Florida late in the year for his official visit. "The most impressive part of the trip was meeting Coach Meyer and yes I plan on taking an official visit to Florida." Based on what Cummings told me he is expecting an offer as early as this week from the Gators. It will be interesting to see if that is indeed the case. If I had to guess I would say that he will not get his offer this week.
