Bob and I mentioned last week that heading into the Florida/South Carolina game two players in attendance could be close to getting offers from the Gators. Offensive linemen David Yankey (2010) and defensive end Euclid Cummings(2009). Many people speculated that it would be Euclid Cummings that was maybe on the verge of getting the offer first. Last night Yankey got the call from the Gators.
"I am definitely excited I received an offer from Florida," Yankey said. "It means a lot especially how they perform on a week to week basis. I am real happy."
Cummings on the other hand still could receive an offer but as many of you now know my "other things on the horizon" comment was in reference to what was about to happen with defensive end Nick Kasa.
On a side note linebacker Jarvis Jones underwent surgery yesterday for a broken left hand. He broke it a few weeks ago and was playing through the pain. From what I understand he is one of the toughest football players you will ever meet. Knowing Jones, I am sure that he will want to play this weekend but it looks like they are advising him to sit out and see how he is for next week's game.
I have it from a source as close to the Jon Bostic situation as you can get that he has not yet made a decision but is getting closer each day. I truly get the feeling that it could be anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. I still firmly believe that Jon Bostic will be a Gator at the end of the day.
There are more than a few conversations going on between committed and uncommitted players at seemingly every position on the board. Players that have hit the camp circuit together or been on official/unofficial visits together and the Gator class does a great job of selling the team and the school while continuing to build relationships.
