Gators Focused on the Seniors in Big Win

Three different seniors found the end zone on Saturday as they played their final game in The Swamp. For head coach Urban Meyer it was an emotional day, but he was able to enjoy most of it because of the score.

On Javier Estopinan's touchdown...
"I remember the day Javier was playing his best football two years ago against LSU when he hurt that knee. I believe he's had three ACL surgeries. We told him we were going to do whatever we could to get him a touchdown. We actually practiced that, and it worked."

On Percy Harvin...
"If there's a better player in the country, he's one of the top two or three as far as skill level. He's extremely high level. These next two weeks are going to be extremely huge for him. I've been doing this a long time, and I've seen him do things I've never seen other people do. I think he'll go down as one of the greatest players in Florida football history and deservedly so."

On the seniors...
"Just because you're a senior doesn't entitle you. I asked the crowd to come out and they were fantastic. Everyone is going to graduate and everyone is taking care of themselves. Nowadays to sustain four years of college football that's hard. Their careers weren't perfect. Some were great, some were good and some were average, but every single one of them is going to graduate from the University of Florida. I am so proud of every one of them. Second, it's to win a championship and they've won an SEC Championship and get another chance in two weeks. The ones that are blessed are going to go to the NFL because they developed. It's a terrible thing to get used, and I tell them that sometimes universities use players. It's horrible, and you get sick to your stomach. A guy comes in as a highly rated recruit and leaves without a degree and hasn't been developed, but every single one of these guys used the university which they should."

On the emotions of the day...
"I was fighting back tears. I love every one of them and I think they love it here. The sad thing is there are some universities where seniors never come back, and really why should they. It's horrible to say that, but why should they? Every one of those seniors, you watch how much they'll come back."

On the next two games...
"Our next two weeks are pretty big. I don't know the history of this thing for Florida football, but I can't imagine a bigger two weeks in Florida football than the one we're staring down the barrel of. It's against two very good football teams and two very good coaches."

On injuries to Lawrence Marsh and Matt Patchan...
"Marsh has an MCL sprain, Patchan has an MCL sprain, but we don't know the degree."

On A.J. Jones and Duke Lemmens...
"A.J. Jones, I thought he'd play, but they're guaranteeing him back for FSU. Duke Lemmens had some stingers, so they held him out this week. He should be ready to go next week."

On Cornelius Ingram being the last senior presented...
"There was no doubt to that. It's well-deserved and he looked pretty good coming off the blocks. I was going to throw him a pass there for a second. He's also going to graduate in December."

On gaining anything from this game...
"Hopefully a healthy football team. I'm hoping these knees show up okay. Our offense live has been beaten up pretty good. Our line coach is pretty excited cause we were able to get them out of there after the first quarter. Other than that, we got some young guys in."

On CI playing in the bowl game...
"CI is having some strategic people come ask me."

On Louis Murphy...
"Louis is a very emotional guy. He was very emotional in the locker room, and he's emotional for all the right reasons. His family was out there. He truly loves Florida. He loves this coaching staff and he loves his teammates. He's got to have two great games coming up here."

On Cameron Newton...
"I'm as shocked as everyone else is. I absolutely fell out of my chair crushed and surprised. He made his bed and now he's got to sleep in it. We probably know less about it than you guys because we were focused on The Citadel. I'll no more, people wanted to talk to me about it, but that would be an injustice to our seniors and an injustice to our football team. On Sunday, I'll spend some time on it, but not much cause I have to get ready for our rivals."

On Kestahn Moore...
"I love Kestahn Moore and I really do think he's going to play at the next level. He's a hard runner. I love who he is, and his family and what he stands for. He'll always be a Gator and he's going to keep on coming back here."

On the long runs by Chris Rainey...
"We pulled Demps out. I grabbed him and said you're going to be a 1,000-yard rusher. When I don't know, but hopefully next year, and he's not worried about stats. He ran real hard, and Chris ran real hard."

On the touchdown catch by Riley Cooper...
"It was a great catch. I didn't realize he didn't have that many catches. It's been a bizarre year statistics wise. We're won of the best rushing teams in college football, but I don't believe we have a guy over 600 yards. We have four of them with 500-600 yards though. Every receiver wants to catch the ball, and I don't mind that. It's the ones that don't want to catch the ball. But Cooper works and he wants to catch the ball. I told him we are going to throw you the ball. We did something with Percy Harvin, too, because he had some touchdown streak going. We try to help out our vested players."

On when the focus switched to FSU..
"It's already switched. It probably switched at halftime for a lot of them. This is a big week for them, and they know that."

On the play of John Brantley...
"We're real positive with John. He's had one bad outing, but we're very happy with the way he's handling the offense and the way he's handling the huddles and the calls being called in. Coach Mullen is very particular with development, and he can throw that ball. We're very impressed, and that's great. It's tough with our schedule and I'll compare schedules with anyone, but sometimes you don't get a chance to develop that quarterback. He's done a nice job, and he's getting close to earning some playing time."
