Five-Star Wide Receiver Debose Likes Four

The top rated wide receiver in the Sunshine State is down to four schools as his favorites. While still in the process of playing in the state playoffs, Andre Debose has been able to visit four campuses and nine college games during the season soaking in a ton of college football and getting to to know the teams he likes. He was in Tallahassee Saturday to watch Florida dominate FSU.

Debose and his Sanford Seminole teammates beat Spruce Creek last Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs in Florida's highest classification - 6A. Their next big test is against Apopka and Debose understands what is ahead and how their schedule has prepared them this season for the playoffs.

"Another big one and we haven't played them yet," Debose said of the game this week with Apopka. "They are pretty good and have a couple of great players. Our tough schedule has helped us out a lot.

Debose and his Seminole teammates have had to make some adjustments on offense this year to try and utilize all the skill they have on offense. He started out at quarterback but has moved to wide receiver almost exclusively to take the most advantage of his skills. He had a big week against Spruce Creek in their 30-13 win.

"I scored three times on an 85 yard run, a 75 yard reception, and a 32 yard reception for touchdowns," he said. "I play wide receiver now. II was the primary starter at quarterback at first, but coach thought I was a better threat at wide receiver. He wants to get me out in space."

Debose is a 5-star prospect at and one of the elite play makers in all of the country. He has been courted by the very best in college football but has now narrowed his favorites down to four schools.

"I am down to four schools...Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Miami," he said.

He talked about each of his favorites.

Miami: "They play a lot of freshman real early and I like that. I feel like I would have an opportunity to play there early."

Georgia: "I like how balanced they are. They do just enough running to set up the pass and just enough passing to set up the run. It's kind of balanced a kind of pro style offense."

LSU: "They have more of a pro-style offense too. They are balanced, I just like LSU."

The Gators have been the team that Debose has seen play the most. He was in Gainesville for the Miami, LSU, and South Carolina games and he visited Florida State for the game this past weekend when the Gators ravaged the Seminoles for a 45-15 victory. He has visited colleges for nine different football games.

"It was a great game, kind of rainy, but a great game," Debose said of Florida's big win that keeps them alive for a BCS Championship birth. "They played great. Tim Tebow is a great player and overall Florida is playing great football right now. I was just enjoying that game right there. I've been to Florida three times, Tallahassee three times, Georgia once, and LSU twice."

The Gators have one advantage over the others in his recruitment right now. It seems that Florida Head Coach Urban Meyer has made Debose a priority in recruiting.

"Coach Meyer has showed me the most love of all the head coaches," Debose said. "He pretty much stays in touch with me the most and talking to the head coach means a lot."

He has one more official visit left and the plan is to take one to Florida. However, with the playoffs still going on, Andre Debose has left all of that planning up to his father and Debose is not really even sure when he will visit the Gators. He is set to announce his intentions for college at the Under-Armour All-American game on January 4.
