Gators Stun Ohio Prospects

[MEDIA:32874]The University of Florida hosted two super prospects from the state of Ohio and both blue-chippers happened to be committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Now tight end Louis Irizarry and defensive tackle David Patterson still say they are both committed to Ohio State but they left Gainesville, Florida very impressed with the Gators... enough to make both prospects think twice about who to sign with on February 5th.

"Florida was actually very, very nice," said Irizarry. "Florida is really making me think about this. It is such a great place... the people, coaches and such a great opportunity. They need tight ends so badly. I was really impressed and they did a nice job this weekend. It is a place where I feel very comfortable as well. Plus, I have family in Tampa and Orlando. But for now, I am still committed to Ohio State."

Irizarry is a super tight end from Youngstown (Ohio) Ursuline High School. He may visit the Hurricanes this weekend. Florida is scheduled to make an in-home visit with him this week.

The Gators also made quite an impression on David Patterson, an Ohio State commitment. Patterson, one of the nation's top D-tackles, took an official visit to Florida. Is he still committed to the Buckeyes?

"I had a great time at Florida and it was a pretty nice visit," said Patterson. "The players and coaches are very nice. I got to check out the Swamp and practice. I am still committed to Ohio State but I am going to still look at Florida. They need DLs."

Patterson is from Warrensville Heights, Ohio and Florida coach Ron Zook will make an in-home visit with him on Monday.

It might be a reach for Florida to turn Irizarry and or Patterson. For now, Zook and staff have made them at least think twice about the big decision looming on Signing Day.
