"I actually committed this morning," said Griffin. "I called and spoke with Coach Zook and Coach Wickline. Florida is just a great opportunity for me to play right away and they get so much national exposure. I am pumped."
Griffin is 6-3 and 290 pounds. He selected Florida over Florida State, Louisville, California and Boise State. He played his high school ball at Ventura High School. He will report to the Gators practice in Tampa for their Bowl Game against Michigan.
"Coming out of high school, I thought I was going to Oregon State but they pulled off of me at the last minute so I kind of panicked and signed with Montana State. I lasted only summer camp and hated it the atmosphere there so I transferred to Ventura Junior College. I guess it has all worked out."
Griffin now joins David Kenner (TE), Anthony Guerrero (OG) and Tavares Washington (OT) as Junior College commitments for Florida. They will all sign with the Gators on Wednesday. Florida is also leading for Eric Holcombe, a defensive tackle from NE Mississippi JUCO. He will decide tonight between Florida, Auburn and LSU.
