Gillislee: "I am 100 percent"

At 6-0, 190-pounds, running back Mike Gillislee can do a number of different things on the football field for head coach Kevin Pettis and his Deland Bulldogs. Off the field, speculations have run wild surrounding the four-star prospect.

The recruiting banter has hit full stride with certain prospects over the last couple of weeks none more so than running back Mike Gillislee. Speculation began when internet rumors were reported that he went to watch the Clemson Tigers practice in preparation of its bowl game. Then, the four-star running back decided to decommit from the University of Florida and open things back up a bit with schools such as UCF and Clemson. I had a chance to catch up with Gillislee as he set the record straight once and for all.

"I am 100 percent and the only visit that I will take is this weekend to Florida," he said.

One of the things that Gillislee is most excited about is the level in which the Gators play.

"I am ready to play for the Gators and can't wait to play at that level."

One of the hardest parts about the past couple of weeks or so for Gillislee has been while the Gators were preparing/winning its second national tile in three years, everyone else, including their brother has been recruiting him. Today, he had a chance to speak with head coach Urban Meyer to set the record straight for the head Gator. And according to Coach Pettis, it's a done deal.

"I was shocked to be honest with you," Pettis said. "I talked to Mikey late last night around 9 p.m. and he told me, 'Coach, I'm going to visit Clemson this weekend.' I woke up this morning and Mike called me and said, 'there's no reason for me to go to Clemson, I'm a Gator.' I asked Mike if he talked to Florida yet and he said, 'yes, I talked to coach Meyer and coach Strong this morning and there's no need to take any visits other than Florida this weekend.' And that's that, he's a Gator."
