2008 Gator Football by the Numbers

Obviously this past season will go down as one of the greatest in Gator history. And as you would expect there are some numbers that this team and the individual players on it put up that are pretty amazing. So why not take a look at some of those numbers and their impact on the season.

2 --- Florida's schedule ranked the 2nd toughest in the nation

3 --- The Gators win their third National Championship

5 --- Interceptions returned for touchdowns

7 --- Interceptions by Ahmad Black

8 --- The Gators won their 8th SEC Championship

9 --- Florida blocked nine kicks this season tying a UF record

9.5 --- QB sacks by Carlos Dunlap, tops on the team

11 --- Florida faced 11 bowl teams this season, beating ten of them

13 --- Florida held 13 opponents to 21 points or less

15 --- Tim Tebow, ‘nuff said

19 --- Percy Harvin scored 19 touchdowns, tops on the team

24 --- The Gators scored at least 24 points in every game

26 --- The Gators intercepted 26 passes, a new school record

42 --- Unanswered points in Jacksonville on the way to a 49-10 win

78 --- The longest punt return by Brandon James and the total punt return yardage the Gators allowed all season

93 --- Tackles by Brandon Spikes, tops on the team

114 --- Points scored by Jonathan Phillips, tops on the team

611 --- Points score by the Gators, a new SEC record

Those are some pretty amazing numbers.
