Ms. Brown Ready for Gainesville Trip

When you are the mother of one of the most highly regarded seniors in high school football, you need to keep your mind open to things. Elesha Brown is the proud momma of Greensboro (FL) West Gadsden defensive tackle Gary Brown and both will be visiting the University of Florida for Gary's official visit next weekend. Ms. Brown has been to campus numerous times, and is ready for the weekend.

Gary Brown plays at a smaller school up near the panhandle of Florida. Notoriety isn't easy for players from such a small school, but Brown was able to overcome that with his ability and make the Under Armour All-American squad this year.

Once at the practices for the game, Brown was a terror and probably the best defensive lineman at the week of practices. He committed to the Gators early and has been back to visit numerous times. Now Brown and his mother will make the official trip to Gainesville for their only visit of the recruiting cycle. That visit and other possible ones have been a subject for Brown and family for a few weeks now.

"The only scheduled visit that we have to my knowledge is to the University of Florida," Elesha Brown said. "That is it. I just want to meet with the coaches just to touch base with them. I don't have any preconceived notions about the visit or anything and both my brothers and I have visited several times with them."

Elesha and Gary have been watching the Gators all season and watched them win the national championship a couple of weeks ago. She said that Gary cannot wait to start his college career and make a difference in something he really enjoys.

"He just loves the game and loves playing the game," Ms. Brown said. "He looks forward to an opportunity to play the game."

Brown is a multi-sport athlete and in previous years he would participate with the track team during the winter and spring months. This time around he is skipping that to concentrate on school work, but he should be suiting up for the baseball very soon.

"He is just concentrating on academics not really playing any other sports at this time," Ms. Brown said. "He is looking forward to baseball season. He pitches, plays first base, and has played in the outfield."

Brown is an accomplished baseball player and according to Elesha, he may want to try and make a go of that in college.

"That was one of his major concerns, he would have liked to be able to play both sports," she said. "I can't speak for him and say that is still something that he wanted to do. I don't think it has been discussed with (the Florida staff).

Gary Brown was reached for his opinion on taking other trips after his official visit to Gainesville. Brown was pretty insistent that there was nothing to it. He is looking forward to playing for Florida head coach Urban Meyer, defensive coordinator Charlie Strong, and defensive line coach Dan McCarney.

"I have one planned visit and that is to UF," Gary Brown said. "I think all three coaches are great, and we have a good strong bond between all of us. All I can say is what a program, what a program."
