Brown Family Loves UF Visit, Their Last

He is currently the University of Florida's longest standing commitment and Gary Brown just took his official visit to Gainesville with his mother Elesha. The massive defensive tackle from Greesboro (FL) West Gadsden is considered by many close to the situation at Florida as the best defensive player in the state at any position. Ms. Brown brought Gary to town and loved everything about the trip.

Ms. Brown loved the people at the school and it was the first time she really got to spend with a lot of the coaches and especially the players that will be around Gary for years to come. Head Coach Urban Meyer, Gary's recruiting area coach Chuck heater, and defensive line coach Dan McCarney were all in tow around the Browns. Mike and Maurkice Pouncey also made an impression.

"Everything was wonderful," Ms. Brown said. "The town of Gainesville and how supportive it is of the football team. Coach Urban Meyer, Coach Heater, and Coach McCarney, everyone was just wonderful.

"I met the Pouncey twins, Omar Hunter, and David Nelson. The Pounceys are big fun and just very nice. Everybody that I met...there was just this cohesiveness throughout the staff. The family members and team members were very cohesive. It was a great family environment."

One of the main reasons that Gary and mom Elesha chose the University of Florida was for its academics. The staff at Florida presented them with a plan that pleased Ms. Brown a lot on just how Gary would graduate from Florida with his degree.

"I just learned more about the campus itself," she said. "The academics and the entire program I actually learned a lot. I just like the amount of time that is geared toward the academics. The tutoring and down to the location of the classes. All of that was impressive to me. I just see that the environment is geared toward them learning and not failing and sets them up for success."

with such a big campus at Florida, Ms. Brown loved that the counselors at Florida could arrange for Gary to take classes that are really close and not hard to get to.

"Their classes are all centrally located," she said of the players early education classes. "They showed us a centrally located strip where classes and the study hall area are located."

According to Elesha, Gary would like to pursue something in management. It is something she already participates in with her own job.

"He would probably pursue an area in business," ms. Brown said. "I am a manger in the Department of Children and Families. I am in the supply management area and deal with purchasing."

Rest assured Gator fans that talks of Gary visiting another school are out of the question. Rumors circulated for the last few weeks that Gary Brown may take a visit to Florida State over the last recruiting weekend. Ms. Brown put that to rest emphatically Sunday evening.

"I only scheduled the one visit," she said. "That is the only visit that is scheduled and it was to the University of Florida."
