FLA Making Late Push

[MEDIA:32874]The Gators are making some noise in the recruiting wars and they have made up some ground on a lot of prospects, including a good one from the Tampa area that stars on both sides of the ball.

Linebacker Larry Edwards is a standout from the Sunshine State. Edwards, 6-2 and 225 pounds, starred on both sides of the ball for Tampa (Fla.) Wharton High School. They lost in the state championship to Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely High School 22-10. For the season, Edwards rushed for over 1,300 yards and 21 scores. Defensively, he recorded 90 tackles and 10 sacks from his linebacker position. This weekend, he just got back from an official visit to Nebraska.

"That was actually my second trip," said Edwards. "LSU was first last month. They have a nice atmosphere, I like the school and the coaching staff is real nice. I was a little more impressed with Nebraska. Their facilities were nicer and I fit in well there."

Edwards will visit North Carolina (1-10) and Florida (1-17) in January. For now, he remains open and the Gators are making a late push.

"They are recruiting me hard now and I will visit. I think they will offer me on my visit. We'll see what happens." Edwards prefers to play linebacker and most schools are recruiting him for defense. Iowa likes him as a running back.
