Caldwell Sneaks Out West

5-star wide receiver Andre Caldwell snuck out west last weekend and visited the Southern Cal Trojans. Caldwell, from Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson, is one of the nation's most explosive offensive players. Could he be the second Tampa receiver headed out west? Mike Williams, a true freshman receiver from Tampa, had a spectacular first year with the Trojans and he and Caldwell are very good friends.

"I had a really good trip out there," said Caldwell. "It was a great time. Mike (Williams) was my host. We have been friends for about five years now. I was very imprssed with everything out there. They have a great staff that is fairly young. They understand their players and everyone gets along so well. I love their offense. It lets guys go out and make plays. USC opened up my eyes a little more about leaving the state."

For Caldwell to leave the Sunshine State would be a shock to a lot of folks in the college football world. His older brother, Reche, played for the Florida Gators (now a SD Charger) and it has long been thought that Miami was the team to beat for Caldwell.

"Right now, I am open. I will visit Florida (1-10), Miami (1-17), LSU (1-24) and Florida State (1-31)."

Caldwell will play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas on January 5th. He reports on December 30th.
