"I have offers from Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, Maryland, Tennessee and NC State," Johnavon Fulton said. "I think North Carolina, Auburn, Georgia Tech and UCF are all close to offering."
Last season, Fulton had eight interceptions, six pass breakups, 45 tackles, one forced fumble and six kick returns for touchdowns.
"I believe I am the best cornerback in the world so anywhere I go I know I am going to play but playing time is something that is very important to me as well as academics and atmosphere."
The recruiting process hasn't hit Fulton yet who plays at a small 2A school.
"People were telling me and Dexter [Morant] that we would end up at a smaller type school but we are determined to be playing at a major program when it's all said and done. Dexter is my best friend ever since kindergarten. Every time we take a trip together we say man we love that place so we need to just visit everyone and see what happens. We just love everything I guess because we are young. Most likely we will end up at the same school. I would say a 90 percent chance of that happening. Dexter talks to Coach Carter a lot as well so we will see what happens. We are both going down at the end of this month for one of the spring practices."
The thought of checking out The Swamp is something that Fulton has always wanted to do.
"I want to see The Swamp," Fulton said. "I have never been there but heard when you walk in there you can't hear anything. I have been talking to Coach Carter twice a week and I talked to Coach Meyer today (Tuesday). Coach Meyer was asking me about Florida and my grades. He was telling me about the team and how they will be short on defensive backs after this season. It's truly a blessing but this isn't the end just the beginning because when I go to college I need to outwork people to get my spot and that's what I plan to do. Straight corner is what I want to play but people in my family have crazy growth spurts. I could end up at safety but it doesn't matter to me. I just want to play. Coach Bedford saw my film and how we play man all the time and he told me that's what he likes to do. I was asking him about the scheme they run and how often they run certain packages like nickel or dime."
The cornerback board is as deep and talented as I can remember in recent years. The Gators are looking for the best possible lockdown corners available and some of the nation's best are looking back, including players like Jaylen Watkins, Fulton and Lamarcus Joyner as well as many more. With so many of the top corners showing great interest in the Gators, life for cornerback's coach Vance Bedford should get a whole lot easier. The relationship that Fulton and Morant have is a strong bond and in this case it would appear that the two will end up playing together. I found it very interesting that he acknowledges the fact that they are both very impressionable on these visits. This is one that could come down to where they visit last. I fully expect to see both name Florida as their leader when they visit. Whether that stays the course, only time will tell.
