DT High on the Gators

Atlanta (GA) Douglass High School is home to one of the most sought after defensive lineman in the nation. Garrison Smith is 6-3, 255 pounds and has offers from every team in the Southeastern conference minus Kentucky.

In addition, Garrison Smith holds offers from Ohio State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, UAB, North Carolina and Clemson.

"I went to Georgia for a junior day and thought it was good," he said. "It was real nice. Then I went to junior day at Alabama. It was a good junior day as well."

Smith made no secret about his attraction for the Gators.

"I love Florida, it's a great school, great coaching staff and I keep in contact through email," Smith said. "I am getting a lot of love down there in Gainesville right now."

Smith has never been to Gainesville but that should all change in the very near future.

"I am waiting on my parents so we can go down and see the campus," he said. "Coach Meyer and I have been emailing and I have a real good feeling about them. It's a blessing they want to give me an opportunity to play for them. They are trying to get me down there ASAP to see the school and talk to the staff in person."

Smith talked about some of his strengths.

"My strength and my ability to come off the ball I think with my speed and quickness makes me dangerous on the line," he said. "I can really run for a big guy and get after it. I am trying to get bigger and faster. I want to keep learning."

"They move me around," Smith said. "They put me at MIKE to use my speed sideline to sideline. Florida see's me as real athletic defensive end/defensive tackle and it doesn't matter to me. I want to help the team whatever way needed."

Last season Smith had 14 sacks, 108 total tackles, 27 for loss and seven forced fumbles.
