Midgett Excited About All-Star Game

Quarterback Justin Midgett will play in this weekend's California-Florida All-Star football game in California. Midgett and Steven Moffett are the two QBs for Florida. They get to throw to guys named Bowe, Hill, Webb, Gilliam and Fagg. They get to handoff to Sims and Dennison. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Gator commitment Justin Midgett is out west this week, as he is one of two signal callers to quarterback Florida against California in Saturday's All-Star game in Los Angeles.

"It is an honor to be here," said Midgett. "It is a beautiful hotel and they have really hooked us up."

Florida practiced for the first time this morning. Midgett is battling Winter Park's Steven Moffett for the quarterbacking duties on Saturday. Both QBs will see significant playing time. Their wide receiver targets are Amp Hill, DeCody Fagg, Dee Webb, Ryan Gilliam and Dwayne Bowe. Antonio Cromartie is playing defense for the Sunshine State. Ernie Sims and Brian Denison will share a bulk of the carries on offense.

"We threw for the first time today and Amp looked incredible," said Midgett. "They are all so good. You should see the defense, especially the defensive line with guys like (Stanley) McClover, (Eric) Moncur, and (Phernando) Rex-Hill. This team could compete with some college teams out there."

This was a great senior campaign for Midgett at Punta Gorda (Fla.) Charlotte High School. He threw for 2,488 yards and 21 touchdown passes in leading his team to a 13-1 record. They lost to Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson in the state semi-finals.

Midgett committed to Florida this past spring. He will take his official visit to Florida on January 10th. In the meantime, he is working hard for Florida. Or is he?

"I am trying to do some recruiting but I am being subtle about it. I do not want to be to pushy."
