South Carolina has produced a number of top prospects over the years and this year is no different with 6-0, 180-pound wide receiver Torian Richardson who has run as low as 4.36. Richardson, from Byrne High School, recently spent time in Knoxville as the Vols put on the pads for the first time.

"I went to Knoxville with my mom, dad and little brother," Torian Richardson said. "We left on a Friday and drove up and met some of the coaches. I had a chance to watch some film with the wide receiver coach and they need receivers from what they were telling me. On Saturday, we had a chance to watch them practice for the first time in full pads and it was pretty exciting to watch. They worked a lot on special teams then did a bunch of one on one drills and stuff like that then had a little scrimmage. That was good to see and they ran a lot of play action fakes even though they didn't throw it that much."

Richardson actually grew up a Miami Hurricane fan but hasn't had much contact with Randy Shannon or the rest of that staff. But he has visited South Carolina and Clemson for junior days.

"The South Carolina junior day was a lot of fun they are building a new academic building and new coaches offices," he said. "I had a chance to speak with Steve Spurrier, Jr. and he was telling me that the really liked my highlight tape and they want me to come back to camp over the summer and see how it goes."

On the Clemson junior day: "Clemson was a lot of fun as well. They have some new locker rooms/weight room and they are trying to improve all the facilities. I had a chance to talk to Coach Sweeney and he is looking to take four to six wide receivers this year."

Richardson has upcoming trips set for Georgia and then Florida on April 18 for the Orange and Blue Game. Alabama, Georgia and then North Carolina are sending him the most mail at this time.

Richardson ended his junior season with 35 catches for 500 yards and five touchdowns. With Byrne implementing a pass-first offense, expect Richardson to double his productivity from last season across the board.

Richardson recently picked up an offer from Michigan State.
